Hanna Rosin
With ambitions to “greatly” expand its podcast output, New York magazine has brought on writer and radio host Hanna Rosin as editorial director for audio, editor-in-chief David Haskell said Wednesday. In the new role, Rosin will be tasked with overseeing the magazine’s existing podcast portfolio, including Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway‘s “Pivot” and a forthcoming launch tied to The Cut, as well as exploring new series.
Previously a writer for The Atlantic and Slate, among others, Rosin was most recently with NPR, where she’s co-hosted the podcast/radio program “Invisibilia” since 2016.

Adrienne Green
Additionally, New York announced three internal promotions:
- The Cut senior editor Adrienne Green has been promoted to features editor at New York. Green joined the magazine in 2019, having previously been managing editor at The Atlantic. She’ll continue to edit for The Cut while also working across the full site and print magazine.
- Gazelle Emani, currently deputy editor of the site’s entertainment news offshoot, Vulture, has been promoted to culture editor at New York. In the new role, she’ll work to more closely align Vulture‘s coverage with that of the flagship magazine, in addition to overseeing the print magazine’s “Culture Pages” section. Emani joined Vulture in 2015 as senior editor.
- Finally, staff writer Zak Cheney-Rice has been promoted to features writer. He’s been with the magazine sine 2018, primarily writing on race and politics, and was previously the editor of Mic‘s race, identity, and social justice vertical, The Movement.

Andy McNamara
Last Friday was Andy McNamara‘s last day as editor-in-chief of Game Informer, ending a 29-year, 327-issue run at the video gaming magazine.
McNamara hasn’t yet revealed where he’s headed next, but in an interview with The Washington Post on Tuesday, he said he’d been “looking for a change” ever since a round of layoffs last August at GameStop, the retail chain that publishes the magazine, reduced Game Informer‘s editorial team considerably.

Andrew Reiner
“I just felt like that was the end of my run,” McNamara said. “I started to look for something new to do and started talking to game companies just to see where I might fit and what I could do.”
Succeeding McNamara as EIC will be Andrew Reiner, himself a 26-year veteran of the magazine, who is being promoted from executive editor.

Joyann King
At Hearst Magazines, Harper’s Bazaar‘s digital executive editorial director, Joyann King, is shifting over to Town & Country and Elle Decor, taking on the new role of executive director of editorial business development for both magazines, where she’ll serve as a liaison between the editorial and business teams, working directly with Town & Country editor-in-chief and Elle Decor editorial director Stellene Volandes.
The news comes about a month after Hearst announced the hiring of Samira Nasr, previously of Vanity Fair, as Harper’s Bazaar‘s next editor-in-chief. Prior to Nasr’s arrival, King and executive fashion director Nicole Fritton had been overseeing Bazaar on an interim basis.

AJ Paron
Sandow has hired AJ Paron as EVP and design futurist within the Sandow Design Group, which includes Interior Design, Luxe Interiors + Design and Metropolis magazines, among other properties. In the new role, Sandow says Paron will assume oversight of B2B sales, marketing and experiences within the design group, as well as working to develop new products, solutions and brand building opportunities.
Paron joins Sandow from Design Public Group, a furniture procurement technology platform, where she was national sales director. Prior to that, she was national A&D director at office furniture brand Allsteel.

Amy Emmerich
Amy Emmerich, president and chief content officer at Refinery29, is leaving the publication after five years, she said Thursday. The announcement comes a little less than a month after R29‘s longtime EIC, Christene Barberich, also stepped down, after the site faced criticism on social media for a lack of diversity and allegations of racial discrimination.
Days after Barberich’s resignation in June, CNN published a lengthy investigation into into allegations of racism and other elements of workplace toxicity at the site, after which Refinery29‘s parent company, Vice Media Group, launched an internal investigation. In a subsequent article, CNN reported that Refinery29‘s editorial staff union had called for Emmerich’s immediate resignation on June 11.
New England-based Yankee magazine has hired Katharine Van Itallie as its next art director, publisher Brook Holmberg announced last week. Previously an art director at Art + Auction, Modern Painters, Budget Travel, Redbook, Travel + Leisure, Seventeen and More magazines, Van Itallie’s first issue for Yankee, its July/August one, “was designed entirely from her new home in southern New Hampshire… a true testament to her ability,” editor-in-chief Mel Allen said.
“Yankee has long been known for its visual presence, and Katty’s vast experience with top national magazines, combined with her knowledge of the New England region, will serve her well,” added Holmberg. “We are thrilled she has joined Yankee and look forward to seeing her take the magazine to new visual heights.”
Alex Davies is rejoining Business Insider as senior editor on the transportation desk, he announced Monday. Davies spent the past six years at Wired, most recently as senior associate editor, overseeing the magazine’s transportation coverage, before being let go in a round of layoffs at Condé Nast in May. Davies previously spent two years reporting for BI‘s transportation section before jumping to Wired in 2016.

Elvina Nawaguna
Meanwhile, Business Insider parent Insider Inc. added another hire to its growing D.C. bureau: Elvina Nawaguna, as deputy editor. Nawaguna arrives from CQ Roll Call, where she spent the past four years as an energy and environment reporter. She starts her new job later this month.
As was previously reported, Vogue.com editor Stuart Emmrich is stepping down at the end of the summer after less than a year in that role. He’ll remain with the site as a contributing writer.
