Bonnier’s Parenting Group is making some changes among its top management in an effort, it says, to ensure brand consistency across print and digital platforms. As a result, Babytalk magazine top editor Ana Connery was promoted to director of print content, strategy and design. Parenting.com editor-in-chief Rachel Feddersen was elevated to director of digital content, strategy and design.
Meanwhile, Susan Kane, who has served as editorial director of the group since March 2008, is leaving the company. Before that, Kane was editor-in-chief of Babytalk.
According to Bonnier, elevating Connery and Feddersen to lead print and digital strategy separately was more appropriate than having one person oversee both channels. “We felt Ana’s and Rachel’s expertise in their areas of strength (Ana with her strong background in print and her elevation of Babytalk since she took that brand over and Rachel with her terrific record on the digital side) dictated the move,” a company spokesperson tells FOLIO:. “We believe we have the strongest team possible with this change to strengthen the brand.”
In addition, former O, the Oprah Magazine art director Herve Kwimo was named creative director of the group. As a result, Parenting art director Michael Goesele is leaving the group but “most likely” will be moved to another Bonnier title, the spokesperson says.
In addition to Parenting (which was divided into two age-targeted magazines last year) and Babytalk, the group also includes Conceive, which it acquired from its founder and a group of investors in 2009.
